The five-year journey and the desire to contribute to humanity ▶ Play excerpt08:20

Frederic recalls a 2017 retreat where it was said that participants would go on a five-year journey and would love some parts and hate some parts, and asks what was meant.

The Wonders point out he is two years in and has already hated some parts and loved others, then ask where he is trying to go with these conversations.

He answers that he wants to explore beyond what he currently knows, but also that a desire to contribute more has surfaced without him knowing how.

They advise him not to work out how, but to notice what he actually wants to do - if he passes someone without a coat, or someone begging for food, what does he do?

There are many ways to expand the humanity and compassion within himself, but the key is to do it in a loving heart chakra way rather than a mind way; the more the heart chakra opens, the more he will see himself capable of assisting an individual, a group or more.

It is about not defining the type of help but seeing an opportunity and choosing to use it.

When Frederic objects that others may not want to be helped, they reply that waiting to be asked may mean waiting a long time, that it is not about recognition but about offering - asking a beggar whether they are hungry, thirsty, cold or in need of assistance, or simply sitting down and having a conversation - and that the more he recognizes the humanity in others the more they will respond to his.

This, they say, is not a problem to solve but a way to begin living, and the difficulty arises only when he puts it into his mind and tries to determine what, how and when, and what is right or wrong, at which point he will struggle greatly.

They tell him his greatest current fear is that he simultaneously desires to assist humanity and fears assisting humanity, and that he must reconcile the two before deciding what he can do - which might be as simple as speaking up about how reality works, or observing how people hurt and help each other and supporting both.

They emphasize that compassion, assistance and guidance must not involve setting himself aside: it is not a them-or-me situation but an expansion of the love he has for himself that others can then be filled by.

Frederic notes that where he was once completely disconnected from humanity, that is now changing, and that he must assist himself first in order to assist others, as he sees with his daughter.

The Wonders add that children teach parents how to parent, and tell him to learn from his child the very compassion for humanity he is seeking, since she already has it.
