NAD+ supplementation, aging and the mindset behind lost energy ▶ Play excerpt07:37

Frederic says that as he ages he is considering taking NAD+, and asks whether nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide or nicotinamide riboside is the better form.

The Wonders answer that neither is better - they have different functions and interact differently with the body - and turn the question back on him: what does he see happening to his body with age?

He describes a slowing metabolism, noting oddly that eating more or less no longer changes his weight, and says what he wants is more energy.

The Wonders advise changing the mindset that age brings breakdown, saying the body recovers easily but also breaks down easily, and that the mind, reinforced by seeing cars rust and machinery fail, attributes everything to age rather than to usage or other factors such as salt air.

They add a second factor: with his daughter, what he reads as less energy is partly less desire - less inclination to get on the floor and play - which reflects a mind growing more rigid about what is acceptable and what is fun rather than a body aging.

If he adopts the mindset, curiosity and desire to explore of a 23-year-old, they say he will find his body has more than enough energy; he is trying to change his physical body to gain energy when the difficulty is mostly in his mind.

Frederic agrees, saying he already noticed a large shift in energy when he stopped following expectations placed on him by others and by his own mind.

They urge him to address that before turning to supplementation, though they do suggest L-glutamine to help musculature and the firing of neurons in the brain, which will also convince his mind that it is getting younger, and propose discussing it again afterwards.

In the post-session reflection the channel describes seeing Frederic pulling earwax and a pile of hairs from his ear, and separately seeing him injecting something into his head so his brain would accept getting down on the floor to play with his child.
