Observing psychologies through life rather than mentally, being paid to do nothing, and the house search

Frederic raises the psychologies one can observe, and the Wonders repeat their invitation to followers to come back with their awareness so it can be discussed and explored.

He says he now likes to get out of his mind, and that examining psychology from a mental perspective is no longer enjoyable and is too stressful; they approve, telling him instead to observe the effect in the reality of his life.

He agrees that everything he observes reflects his beliefs and judgments, and remarks with amusement on how he always ends up in situations where he is paid to do essentially nothing, without understanding how - the Wonders ask whether he has to understand, and identify the underlying psychology: he does not need to understand, but he can choose a level of comfort, and for him that means financial comfort, time comfort so he can do what he feels like when he feels like it, and life comfort - and he then creates it.

Frederic notes a contradiction: he and his wife have been looking for a house for years, but he cannot really care about it, since it is for the family and he does not mind where he lives.

The Wonders identify it as his wife's want rather than his, and say honestly that until he cares there will be no house - so why care - pointing out that he already lives in a house, even if he does not own it.

The real question is whether he is satisfied with what he has, and whether change would mean moving, or whether the need in him is to create and build, which he could do in a rental or, more easily, in something he owns, though ownership brings other problems.

They conclude that his need for an easy life has overruled every other aspect of his life, so anything threatening that ease has been set aside; and that although his wife has the idea that she should have a house, she also wants ease of life and trusts him to produce it, so she does not treat it as a necessity - leaving them both playing a game of 'I need this' when in reality neither of them wants it.
