Frederic asks whether this sabotaging ever stops or is simply how the mind is designed.
The Wonders state that the mind is a constant negative and that only he can command it to see the positive; on its own it will never choose the positive, and any positive in his life exists because the mind did not notice it.
The sabotage itself, they say, usually comes from the inner child who has not received the love and attention it feels it needs, or from a part created at thirteen, fifteen, nineteen or twenty years old out of fear, judgment and guilt in a moment of intensity, a part that never matured along with him, so that fear resurfaces just when he thinks he is choosing something.
Frederic finds the exploration exciting but seemingly endless; they answer that there is an end in the sense that it eventually becomes of less benefit to keep exploring, because he will observe things in the moment and address them in the moment.
The aim is not to change the contents of the subconscious repository but to observe when the subconscious insists on a choice while the conscious mind believes it is choosing something else, which Frederic restates as also choosing where to navigate in the subconscious.
