Choosing more brings more choices and a faster pace

Resuming after the interruption, Frederic notes that he used to have far more time for relaxation and that although he enjoys choosing more flexibly, the pace of his life has increased, and he asks whether he chose that or it is simply life.

The Wonders answer that the more he chooses, the more opportunities for choice present themselves; formerly he simply did not choose, so his choices were minimal and he could spend much time doing nothing.

Adding a child to those choices makes him busier still, though the child is not entirely to blame.

They say not to expect this to slow down unless he chooses it: he can choose to slow things down for a day or two and say he needs a rest, then say he is ready again.

While he rests the universe rests with him, and when he is ready to move the universe moves with him, which they call the ultimate command.
