The missing spiritual component: awareness beyond mind and ego ▶ Play excerpt06:47

Following up on the previous session's remark that a spiritual component was unaddressed in his life, Frederic asks the Wonders to explore it.

They say that what he is is more than what he thinks he is: his personality can be recalcitrant, definitive, practical and pragmatic, but his soul essence is not - that pragmatism is a function of the ego personality and mind.

When he senses there is more within him, that is what he should explore, rather than the world and its reality.

His experiments with energy and the illusions of reality have been a mind game about how well he could control and manipulate; spirituality is not about control but about realizing all that he is so completely that his own joy comes through in every aspect of existence, whatever he is feeling.

They describe an awareness that does not reside in the mind and ego - which defines itself through judgment, logic and definitions - but in the totality of what he is, inclusive of every other human being and every essence, with Earth being a very small part of what his essence is.

Science's Big Bang account explains the physical beginnings of life, but something else holds the atoms together, and that is what he is looking to explore - not to define or judge it, but to gain an awareness that transcends physicality and is not lost when he leaves the physical world.

His sharp mind, they say, is what keeps him in the physical realm, and the 'more' cannot be explained to the mind; even their own image of the space between atoms is inadequate.

What he seeks is the connection within himself to his soul essence, which is connected to the all that is, and which in time transforms behavior, psychologies and beliefs into a more inclusive, joyful individual.

Why the inner awareness cannot be put into words, and connection with all essences ▶ Play excerpt02:54

Frederic notes that Rene's comment about something inside needing to come out sounded like a mind game.

The Wonders explain that Rene must relate things in ways a physical human being can understand, and that words are inadequate for inner awareness - like explaining snow or skiing to someone who has never encountered them.

They say that when Frederic is near Rene and connects with him there is something between them that cannot be explained, which he is faintly aware of but which his mind negates and forgets; that unaware-aware connection is what he should explore.

This is possible not only with every human being but with every essence - trees, grass, insects, animals, even rocks, and the planet Earth itself, which has an essence.

The spiritual element of awareness within him is guiding him toward this, but his mind is stuck in the concepts of reality.

The mind's fear of the awareness and its tactics of distraction ▶ Play excerpt03:35

Frederic observes that whenever he moves in this direction his mind distracts him with something to take care of and he forgets.

The Wonders confirm this is fear, and suggest that exploring that fear inside his mind would itself be a worthwhile exploration that opens the possibility of more - because while the fear is in place, the possibility remains a mere mind concept ('yes, I know I'm a spiritual being, got it, next').

Using his reluctance to go to work as an example, they distinguish between the mind's laziness and genuine awareness - a sense that the day will be wasted, or dangerous, or the traffic terrible - and say he must be willing to listen to that part of himself, while cautioning that even that is only a small part of his spiritual essence and that nurturing it will still be received by his mind as something useful.

This exploration, they say, is one he must undertake without being pragmatic or practical - doing it just because, not because it will give him something.

They add that his mind is very afraid of his awareness because it fears acknowledging that it is not in charge and does not control everything, and that meditation can help the mind become less fearful, though that alone is not the exploration itself.

Interconnection as a starting point and the dissatisfaction of the pragmatic approach ▶ Play excerpt03:10

The Wonders describe interconnection as a beginning that gives the mind a reality it can grasp - being connected to Rene, Maggie, and others - then ask how many more.

They cite Rene as being constantly aware of humanity as a whole rather than of individuals, though he can zero in on individuals who are more insistent about being acknowledged, and ask why he is there and Frederic is not.

Frederic says his desire to explore currently comes out as pushing against things.

The Wonders reply that he wants to explore, but pragmatically: can he sit on a bed of nails, climb an untied rope, push a pencil, dissipate clouds - all of which they say are possible but amount to sleight of hand and sleight of mind, with more beyond.

Frederic recognizes the feeling as dissatisfaction; they confirm it will never satisfy his mind, which is why he himself must come to the awareness.

After the session the facilitator describes seeing movement, light, energy and vibration all around Frederic while Frederic responded, 'this is all really good, but how can I use it?'
